I remember this day like it was yesterday. I had just left my first stay at Lakeview Rehab on the the southside and left after a week. I came home to nothing. I had lost my kids, my house, and my car in the span of the 7 days I was there. My life had collapsed and become unmanageable on my own. But I wasn’t ready to admit that quite yet and I wouldn’t for another year.

But this was the day that God began piecing people into my life that would lead me closer to Him and the life that he had set me apart for. This day while walking hopelessly down 103rd not knowing where to go or what to do, completely lost in despair, I passed a building called Hands and Feet Foundation. It was run by two of the most selfless people I’ve ever met, JamesAmy Gandy. They began planting seeds into my life and heart about Jesus and how much He loved me and wanted a better life for me than the one I was living.

They fed me along with the rest of the homeless community lunch everyday and did a Bible study. I couldn’t see it then, but now I see how God was preparing the way for me to finally surrender my life to Him a year later. I’m not perfect and I still struggle with areas of sin. But I am loved completely and fully by the God who knows me and loves me regardless of my past. And I’m so thankful He saved me and changed me from the inside out.

Now I get the pleasure of leading a small group at their women’s rehab in Starke every other Thursday and do my part to make sure the women that walk through their doors know they are loved and wanted just as they are.

“God shows us His love in this: while we were still sinners,Christ died for us.”- Romans 5:8
